I agree with you - fundamentalists belonging to any religion are dangerous hatemongers, whether one is talking about Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Hindus or Jews. And of course, the basic grudge the Muslim fundies hold against the USA is not its support of Israel (thought they hate America for supporting Israel too), and even less is it "economical injustice"; the basic beef against the US is that it is "atheistic" and "immoral" - that is to say, it stands for the modernist, secularized project.

I would disagree. Especially now that they have W in the White House. Europe is full of nations more "atheistic" and "immoral" than USA.

The basic problem is that USA is rich and powerful and likes to show and use both it's riches and power. Also it supports unpopular governments in the Arab world.

The Arabs once were rich and powerful and now that they are only rich (at least the princes are) they feel a bit humiliated by the USA. And as I said USA surely rubs it in.
