Troels ForchhammerIt seems that the preponderance of evidence, both from dictionaries and English-speaking carbon-based units, is that the normal definition is the one referring to one's internal feelings.
English is not my native language, and I must therefore rely on dictionary definitions - especially regarding some of the finer nuances to the words. The discussion we've seen here seems to me to imply that the above definition is indeed correct, though the "or in the eyes of others" part may not be the normal understanding.
