Germany weren't particularly interested in us so they didnt pay us much attention. Hitler was still interested in peace with us after he had defeated the USSR, and thats why we won the Battle of Britain. The British people were not the united, happy and fearless bunch that Churchill said they were, in fact unhappiness with the government was at a pretty high level throughout all of the war.
No, Germany was very interested in bringing the British Empire to its knees. He viewed them as people of Aryan stock, though corrupted, and thought during the '30s that the British people would ultimately accept a German hegemony on the Continent. In fact, that was the message sent by some very foolish British politicians until the invasion of Poland.
