Thanks for the "addendum". It's more logical that way, isn't it? So then it's just the Dutch and the Germans with this strange habit. Do you (Swedes) also say twelve thirty or half past twelve(12.30 hrs) or like the Dutch and the Germans: half one?

There is even an old expression in Germany, though rarely used now, to name 12:15 "three quarters one". That, of course, causes even more confusion.

This may be an explanation why many people mention the "German timeliness". The German says "half one", means 12:30, arrives then and waits. The other one understands "half one" as 13:30, arrives on time and can't understand why the German is so angry ;-)
