Ah... so first they have to acknowledge Israel's right to exist and then they have to acknowledge Israel's right to keep all Palestinians out of the land that Israel gained through either UN mandate or conquest and the forced deportation (or 'ethnic cleansing' as it is called nowadays) of the Palestinian residents.

Actually, the Palestinians left voluntarily in 1948. And today's Palestinians are not the same people who left.

But yes, just as the Czech Republic gets to keep all the Sudeten Germans off their land. If you want to reverse all of the ethnic shifts of the mid 20th Century, you're in for a very messy time. Or do you want it to happen *only* to Israel?

This is simple logic, since any significant repatriation would doom Israel's Jewish character in the long run.

Oh, well then.... simple logic. Who could argue with that? Clearly all Albanians should be forbidden from returning to their homes in Kosovo because any significant repatriation would doom the Serbian character of the country in the long run.

One big difference there: there's a Serbia and an Albania in addition to Kosovo. For the Jews, there's nowhere else but Israel. And you have to indulge the Jews a bit of paranoia given what happened to them in the last century. You really have to excuse them for not trusting the rest of the world to look out for them.

Ditto for every other forced expulsion in history.

Well, you would undo them all? Must the Czech Republic let in the Sudeten Germans? Must Greece and Turkey re-mingle their populations? Must the Protestants of Northern Ireland return to Scotland and England and allow the "real" Irish to reclaim the land? Will you give up your house if an American Indian shows up whose ancestors once lived on that land? At some point, it becomes a greater injustice to try to undo a past injustice than to try to move on. The problem for the Palestinians is that their brother Arabs won't let them move on. They are surrounded by enemies, but one of their enemies is pretending to be their friends. At least they know where they stand with the Jews.

Reality is for those who cannot cope with Middle-earth.
