Especially since it seems to have been written in code -- the sort of double-speak an oppressed and frightened group uses when writing about the annihilation of their oppressors. (Rev. was written in Greek, a predominant language of the Roman Empire. It describes the destruction of the city of Rome and all who had persecuted members of the church's community -- not the kind of thing one *wants* to make obvious to one's literate overlords!)

Besides, who needs locust-horses? Where _would_ you put the bit? :) [IIRC, tho, this description is based on the appearance of Roman cavalry mounts in full armor.]
