Additionally there were rumours of masacres going on as well...Jay RandomFlame of the Westpaulh
Actually, the Palestinians left voluntarily in 1948.
No they FLED voluntarily. They didn't happily give up their land. They fled. I don't think they had good cause to flee.. but thats in hindsight.
They left to get out of the fighting, confident that the Jews would be swept into the sea & they could return immediately thereafter. They were wrong.
Those Palestinians who remained on their land & held possession were permitted to remain & to become Israeli citizens if they chose.True.,
Indeed...thats great-grandchildren still living in refugee camps and/or houses subject to demolishing with no compensation recourse by occupation forces.Jay RandomFlame of the Westpaulh
And today's Palestinians are not the same people who left.
Some of them are.. and the rest are the children of those who fled.
Many more are the grandchildren of those who fled. A good many are the great-grandchildren.
If your great-grandfather abandoned his home & moved to another country, would that give you any kind of right to claim his former property from its present occupant? No.Well if the average age for people leaving Palestine was 20 then the average age for them now is 75. So many of these people are still alive. The 1-5year olds are only 55-60. But its funny...cos Jews are doing EXACTLY THAT. http://www.jewishtimes.com/News/2229.stm But no doubt thats ok for them...
And Israel refused them the right to a safe return 50years ago and as early as 2 years after 1948 was happily confiscating their land..paulhJay Random
Only Israel has people camped on its borders in refugee camps for 50 years.
True. No Arab country will admit the Palestinians as immigrants.
Estimates vary, but between 500,000 & 600,000 Palestinian Arabs left the former mandate of Palestine in 1948. Their so-called friends, the Arab states, put them in refugee camps & did not permit them to leave. In the decade after 1948, the same Arab states expelled between 500,000 & 600,000 Jews. The State of Israel received virtually every one of those Jews, made them citizens, found homes for them, & integrated them into their society & economy. Do you see a different standard of behaviour here?No... they're both as bad as one another. To accept the Palestinians would mean to accept defeat. And again you're saying that cos some Egyptian guy did something 50 years ago that Palestinians deserve to be living they way they do today and be happy with it.
