Well, I guess I would do two things for starters. I would stop building new colonies on West Bank and Gaza, and I would start removing the old ones.
If you were Israeli PM, you wouldn't do anything just for "starters." Your duty would be to think of the long term, and any move you made would have to thought through.
You are proposing unilaterally giving away one of your strongest negotiating points in order to make your enemies less angry at you; do you expect them to be more forthcoming as a result? That would show that I am serious about making an honest peace and not just trying to grab as much land as I can so yes, I would hope that would have some positive effects. However, that is not the main point. With settlements out of the way, Israel could again claim morally higher ground and I could stop being ashamed for my country.
And if so, what you do propose to ask for from the mollified Palestinians? What is your long-term plan? The point of this exercise is to put yourself in their place.I would ask them to cease the indifadah and continue the peace talks of course.
Speaking as a Prime Minister of Israel, I agree. ;)Morgil BlackhopeFlame of the West
If Israel is serious about making the peace with Arabs, it should immediately start clearing out the settlements. There is no need to have a peace treaty first.
All of them? Are you suggesting that Israel go back to the pre-1967 borders? They aren't defensible.
