Hereditary elites and democracy can coexist,but the proper role of the latter can ONLY be to serve the former. Sovereignty is ordained by God to individuals and is intrinsically not a collective attribute.

We can deal with corrupt politicians *much* more easily, by means of what us democracies call a "ballot-box".

Nope, that's you, I'm afraid. The Irish Republic has a much milder tax regime than the UK.

Republicanism should be eradicated from Ireland, whose entire pre-1949 history was exclusively of monarchy.(I could stomach Northern Ireland being severed from GB and united with the South, IF AND ONLY IF the united Ireland WERE A MONARCHY).

I should think he'd find it hard to better the Royal collection of palaces, feudal fiefdoms, RAF transport squadron, Royal train etcetc.

In any case,the entire expense of those is a fraction of the Crown Estate surplus on land owned by the Queen that gets paid into the Treasury.(The Crown Estate,see http://www.crownestate.co.uk/ for details, is NOT the palaces,etc).
