If 80,000 troops mass on your border and kick out the UN Peacekeepers that are suppsed to keep you apart, you're supposed to *wait* until they actually formally attack?

That's absurd. It's also stupid.

Several Israeli leaders at the time have said that they knew Israel could defeat an Egyptian invasion. That does not mean Israel's preemptive attack was unjust. An Egyptian attack, even though defeatable would have caused considerable damage in *miniscule* Israel. By launching a preemptive strike, Israel avoided structural damage to its country and instead the battles occurred in the *empty* Sinai desert.
