Flame of the WestWhile almost all definitions I've been able to find agree that humiliation is an internal thing - loss of self-respect is often mentioned, I found this version in Online Plain Text English Dictionary at http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/~ralph/OPTED/v003/wb1913_h.html "Humiliate (v. t.) To reduce to a lower position in one's own eyes, or in the eyes of others; to humble; to mortify." This seems to me to read that humiliation can, by some, be understood as a reduction to a lower position in the eyes of others.

Reading your post and John's, I think I'm beginning to understand what the problem here is. You seem to be thinking that describing WTC-strike as a 'humiliation' says something negative about you,
No, "humiliation" means what the dictionary says it means. It's a matter of the reaction of the victim. Read Mom's post.
