Yeah, I've had Danes address me as something that sounds like "Yetta", but my name is pronounced JET like black or airplane (no jokes please, I got enough of them back in school <g>).

The Danish pronunciation of such an intervocalic double t is somewhere between the unvoiced t and the voiced d. And their pronunciation of a final, unstressed -e is somewhere between e, ? and a... so by our spelling rules, your name would be spelled "Dzhett", since the j to us is just a vocalic i or y. :-)

I know of a Turkish-born girl whose name is pronounced like Georgette. Turkish spelling was Carcet with some modificational twirlies on the c's. When her family moved to Norway, immigration got her name wrong, and now she spells it Carjet.
