ACAre you then admitting that there *is* very little fossil evidence? Huh? Anyway, that little statement can be applied to *any* hypothesis, and ironically, it's one I often use when I talk about God. :) Oops, sorry, I will NOT start a God-exists-does-not-does-too discussion!
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
It has been observed in modern populations, and explains the fossil record rather better than Creationism, unless your an advocate of Last Thursdayism.What's that?

Ooh, were there any balrogs in transition, with wings too small to fly with, but large enough to slow them down on the ground? Then why would they evolve wings at all, if they couldn't fly with them and all the bloody things did was slow them down? Weatherproofing? Oh wait, they would, to quit dying from falling!!
