Your point is based on false assumption. The Palestineans do not elect PM for Israel. If the Israelians were naiive enough to think that Sharon's way would bring them peace and security it is not Palestineans fault. Sharon is Israel's choice and Israel's responsibility.

The Palestinians ensured his election by restarting the intifadah after the failure of the peace talks. The more they gunned and bombed the lower Barak's poll numbers went. The Palestinians knew very well what they were doing; they knew very well that their acts of violence were ensuring Barak's defeat.

Besides, who says Sharon is bad for Palestineans, in the long run I mean. He has already ruined Israel's reputation in the eyes of the world. If he continues his current line of actions, he might even succeed in alienating US, in which case Israel will have no choice but to compromise.
