Instead they're living with smouldering ruin. They made their own bed. The Palestinians did everything they could to get Barak out and Sharon elected. They got what they wanted; now they are suffering the consequences.

I'll have to concede that, or at least the Palestinian terrorist organizations did. Not only did they in effect favour Sharon over Barak. Earlier they favoured Netanyahu over Perez, who otherwise stood before a landslide victory because of sympathy with his party after the Rabin assassination. Trouble is, there are asswipes on both sides who oppose peace. Just like the asswipe who shot Gandhi because he preached peace between Hindus and Moslems in India. And the further trouble is, whenever there seems to be a chance of peace, the asswipes on either side manage so easily to shoot it down. The Palestinian asswipes touch off some bombs when peace seems to approach, and the Israelis respond predictably.

There was an interview with a Palestinian woman. She may or may not have been sincere, but in the absence of evidence that she was not, I'll assume that she was. She said that before the Israelis clamped down on the PA areas, she wept whenever Israelis were killed by Palestinians. She felt for their mothers, being one herself. Now she did not weep over slain Israelis.

As a side note, I may mention something that I asked my grandmother about once. She was young during the war, when the nazipigs occupied Norway. I asked her what was her opinion of Germans, after her wartime experiences. She replied that she didn't like Germans, although she realized that she was being unfair to all the good and honest Germans there are. These were just her emotions. The Palestinians in the PA are suffering far more than most Norwegians did during the Nazi rule. Do you expect that their emotions are not stronger than those of my grandmother?
