Flame of the WestI think you are confusing "need" with "want". It is true that technically, all posts are on topic in the alt hierarchy; but that does not mean that everyone is duty-bound to read them. Using one's killfilter is perfectly legitimate.
You're blurring the distinction between RABT, which is a proper Tolkien NG, and AFT, which is an alt. group. RABT is for the discussion of Tolkien's books (not movies), while *nothing* is off-topic on AFT. So turn those filters off for AFT, there's no need!
