Hereditary elites and democracy can coexist,but the proper role of the latter can ONLY be to serve the former. Sovereignty is ordained by God to individuals and is intrinsically not a collective attribute.

In any case,the entire expense of those is a fraction of the Crown Estate surplus on land owned by the Queen that gets paid into the Treasury.(The Crown Estate,see http://www.crownestate.co.uk/ for details, is NOT the palaces,etc).
