: And yes, we did. An outrageously overindulged hereditary elite with a : corrosive effect on democracy was removed for good from their privileged : positions.
An indefensible atrocity screaming for reversal regardless of the passage of time.
Hereditary elites and democracy can coexist, but the proper role of the latter can ONLY be to serve the former. Sovereignty is ordained by God to individuals and is intrinsically not a collective attribute.Nice. Reminds me of the meaningless drivel spouted by Yogic Flyers.
: We can deal with corrupt politicians *much* more easily, by means ofwhat us
: democracies call a "ballot-box".Do you know MSR, by any chance?
:>You are so deluded, the tax will stay the same,
: Nope, that's you, I'm afraid. The Irish Republic has a much milder tax : regime than the UK.
Republicanism should be eradicated from Ireland,
whose entire pre-1949 history was exclusively of monarchy.(I could stomach Northern Ireland being severed from GB and united with the South, IF AND ONLY IF the united Ireland WERE A MONARCHY).Under the English Crown? Again, I don't think you'd find us willing to meekly fall under the English Crown...
:>or as usual :>go up, do you think any of the public services will benefit? If youanswer

: Nope, that's you again, I'm afraid. Your NHS is so screwed that
: are being sent down *here* for treatment, from the North.palaces,
:>President Blair will have a bigger jet ordered, :>and maybe a bigger country retreat.
: I should think he'd find it hard to better the Royal collection of
: feudal fiefdoms, RAF transport squadron, Royal train etcetc.Curious that they still get the use of them...
In any case, the entire expense of those is a fraction of the Crown Estate surplus on land owned by the Queen that gets paid into the Treasury.(The Crown Estate, see http://www.crownestate.co.uk/ for details, is NOT the palaces, etc).
