oppression by the peoples subjcted to it? I am talking about the Dutch(who
certainly needed no lessons in running a good society from the French),the
inhabitants of the various German principates, the Spaniards, theItalians,
the Swiss and quite a number of other peoples. They preferred to work out how their society they should look themselves, just as, for example, the subjected peoples in the former Soviet Union. And talking about absolutist rule - what do you think Napoleon's rulewas?
