And Barak tried it. What did he get for his trouble? The Palestinians

war and ensured his defeat in favor of Sharon.

You don't think that had anything to do with Barak saying one thing and doing exactly opposite? Answer this: If Barak honestly wanted peace with Palestineans, why did he kept building illegal settlements on their lands, more then any other PM before him?

(And please, nothing about how Israel had a right to do that because they won, or that Palestineans deserved it. Just simply, what were his motives?)
