Yes. The Likud party wants to annex the land slowly and quietly, as we all know.Pradera?jevind L?ng
Actually, the main reason Israelis insists on keeping West Bank is the strategical advantage this gives them. It's the '12 km' principle - without West Bank, Syrian tanks can get across Israel in 12 km from the border to the sea. That's what I heard, at least.
Does that explain why the Isaeli government keeps stealing land from Palestinians in order to found new Jewish settlements on them?
The pace has *increased* since Sharon became PM.That always happens when Likud is in power. It slows (but doesn't stop) when Labour is in power. Nevertheless, it shows why Arafat was insane not to deal with Barak. He must have known that the result would be a Sharon government. The scary thing is that the next Likud PM will be Netanyahu, and he's even worse. He managed to grind the peace process to a halt for his entire first term. Imagine what he'll do when there's no peace process to restrain him.
