RavenThey've done worse there just after the revolution. A lot of people were sentenced to death under the Shari'a in those days. If the condemned person was a woman who was a maiden, she was forced to have a series of 'muta' marriages (a type of temporary marriage permitted by some schools of Islamic law) with a series of men, so that she would not die a maiden.
I read about an Iranian priest who circumvented that in another way. When he saw a pretty young girl whom he lusted for, he used his considerable influence so that he could marry her. When he tired of her and wanted new, fresh meat, he divorced her and forced another to marry him. Technically, what he did was in perfect accord with Islamic law.
