Understandable. I believe that what transpired was that markets have to adapt to changing consumer interests and they were confronted with the decision...With the popularity growth of SUVs then (and continuing to today), a product that was more utilitarian looked like a good opportunity...

To tell the truth a ute makes a whole lot of sense where I live than a bottom scrubber such as cayman and 911 or even 4 seater panamera.

-hh
Perhaps individually so, but from a larger holistic view of society, such a shift carries connotations that our transportation infrastructure is regressing ... which is a very bad sign.

Well, I live in a russia protectorate (Byelorussia to be exact). 911 and panamera are better suited for US and possibly canada as well as most of the western europe where potholes are not prevalent and you are not forced to climb curbs just to make a turn in the tight confinements of an apartment complex parking "lot" designed and implemented by the fucking morons and littered by cars due to lack of any semblance of parking enforcement.

SUVs work better in third world countries also due to moonscape landscape of pavement leftovers, not just the artifacts of idiotic "parking" arrangements, but are mostly irrelevant in the states and other countries with holistic approach towards city planning.

I'm sure there are rural areas where you might need them but I haven't see a single place in densely populated kaulifornia where you might be hurting for an SUV. It makes zero sense to pay for a behemoth like that in there.

... and I would have preferred some inane arrangements with the engine in the middle of a 4 seater. I wonder if you can even pull a stint like that without having rear row facing backwards.

There's practical limits to the principle, and stepping out of the racing/competitive arena to general purpose driving...

... that's why I brought the subject of the rear row seating arrangement in connection to the midengine placement.

Another direction that they probably considered ....

Sorry, it looks like Google once again figured out a way to make Google Groups even more USENET unfriendly, this time by abolishing the previously incorporated feature of auto word wrap.

Even so, I'd expect that traditional readers wouldn't have any particular problem with it. You're on Thunderbird, you said....anyone else having this problem with Thunderbird?

I bet. I feel sorry for you, I used GG for a while. It's a total P.O.S.

Nashton claims that it will be replaced with RS5 which might be in the same boat as that up and coming A4 on steroids from porsche.

-hh
"it"? Sorry, I lost context: Nashton claimed what would be replaced with an RS5?

I hate front wheel drive, send most torque to the rear, please
Q7 would

-hh
Insofar as a potential reworked A4 from Porsche, stuff like the old RS4 never made it over to the USA for consideration. Would be nice to see it in a "Coupe GT" revival idea, though ;-)

I hate front wheel drive, send most torque to the rear, please
Nashton, are you gonna carry kids in the trunk of that RS5?

-hh
Nah, the RS5 is to haul the 7,000lb trailer that his Q7 isn't up to task for ;-)

Don't own a trailer.

That's a good one.
