With Audi you get (as expected) the cabin noise levels you'd expect from an american car (something as expected you've found lacking in VW).

Nashton
Really?

Clarify. You are disputing which part of my statement

1. VW is on average is noiser than an audi.

2. audi cabin noise level are comparable to cabin noise level in an typical american sofa on wheels

Nashton
This one.

If you are willing and can pay $70k for even better sound proofing: good for you. Not so good for your pocket.

Nashton
Thanks, I'll take that under consideration when I buy my RS 5 in a few years. And the Q7 was much more than $70k. In fact, optioned out, it was closer to $90k.

Well, as americans say, you have a rich taste.

Nashton
Who doesn't.

Maybe you wear LLoyd shoes too? That $200 paid did not last a season. Fucking germans better keep to making automobiles.

Nashton
Clarks.

Speaking of seasons.

I would not want RS5 ground clearance where I live. In fact I'd get a Land Rover Defender if I had the dough and was in a market for a jeep now. Would've kept A4 though for longer highway trips. But if your city utilities work like a swiss watch RS5 with an active differential in the ass would be a blast to drive. Much more so than your Q7.

Summer driving strictly.

American sofa cabin noise levels are good enough for most people. Otherwise no $20k appliances on wheel would leave the showroom.

Nashton
....so you're abandoning the notion that cabin noise level in NA cars is comparable to noise levels in Audis?

I've had a 93 taurus in the 90th. The cabin noise level was good enough for me even at freeway speeds.

Nashton
I had a 93 Taurus also, the wagon. The panels from the doors started falling off the 2 nd year.

But could it EVER plow through snow.

My experience was the reverse of yours. Not a thing would fall off (sedan, got used off an auction). But a fucking snow plow it was not. Living in lowlands and wearing all-seasons at the time obviously did not help at all.

Having a six pot under the hood helped too in the city when wind noise is not an issue. And the car was cheap to run. Was not much fun driving it though which is not an issue for LLoyd.

Nashton
That's because he hasn't tried anything else.

You mean american car wise? Yes, taurus was the first and the last american car I owned, then I had my share of 4pot japs before graduating to the big 3.
