A reasonable position given the context of a desktop PC. However, the broader market perspective is that towers are a 'dying breed' niche market, as roughly 80% of the general PC market in the West already consists of "unexpandable" products in the form of laptop computers.

Insofar as the forward looking perspective on desktops, with the growth in Server and "Cloud" capabilities, it is becoming increasingly reasonable to raise the question of how much longer it is going to be critically necessary to have the desktop box also be the data repository, versus handing this off to a dedicated appliance (presumably with a fast interconnect).

For certain industries this is apparently already happening at the high end, so the question then merely becomes how much time will transpire before it invariably trickles down.
