Now this one, is one of the best Foot in Mouth, in a long time.

"If X + Y requires N energy, then 2X + Y requires LESS than 2N. So if you have a device with twice the space (because the screen is twice as big), you get more battery life.

This is obvious stuff... ...for people of at least average intelligence."

The only one who this is "obvious" to is Anal Baker.

Puffin Killer
What is defined as X and what is Y? The screen's dimensions?

X represents the screen's area and power draw.

Y represents the power draw of the rest of the system.

Alan Baker
Since you don't have empirical facts, you really don't know.

If X is doubled, Y must increase.

No. X is the power required for the screen which is going to be proportional to the screens area at most. Y is the power necessary for the CPU, WiFi, and the other parts of a phone or tablet that don't need to change with increasing screen size.

Puffin Killer
Wrong.

What you like to ignore: That is why iPhones don't power 60" screens.

No. That is a strawman.
