Nope. LR doesn't render a preview when it exports an image.

Eric Stevens
Then from where does it get the preview that is bigger than it has cached?

Sandman
The cached preview is 1:1 if you've worked with it.

Eric Stevens
That potentially makes it a space hog if you produce large prints.

Uh, no. It may potentially be a space hog yes, but not due to the size of the prints you make. It has *nothing* to do with printing or exporting.

Every single image you've worked with in LR has a 1:1 preview made for it.

DxO doesn't save a preview but does save all the edits in an XMP sidecar.

Cool, this discussion has been about LR. I won't make any comments about DxO because I'm not familiar enough with it. You know, as opposed to you - who isn't familiar with LR but keep making incorrect claims about it.

So too does NX-D. NX-2 stuffs (possibly multiple) sidecars in an edited NEF file. However, none of these have LR's cataloguing.

We all know this.
