NashtonNot sure exactly how to write this, but it appears that somewhere along the development line a bad decision has been made or a bad assumption has been made about the direction software should be going. Is it a base limitation? Not sure, but it seems like the old underpinnings are being deprecated and this is causing some serious bugs/problems. The Xcode digest seems to be indicating this problem. Part of it seems to be a design decision that isn't working out well as has been planned. Some of the engineers that really knew how things worked have left for greener pastures. This leaves apple with junior engineers that have not been there in the beginning of the design process and it appears that they really don't know what they are doing. Or that they are moving beyond the design only to bang into the design limitations of the core technologies themselves. XCode 4.3 is an example, where many see it as a very buggy and almost unusable product. When you have a product that is so buggy it will be hard to development new software and there are some that won't use Xcode 4 and are moving back to Xcode 3 series.

It's not abandoned no matter how you spin it. Oh and Jobs is dead. No need to repeat the religious mantra, fanguuurl.
Software companies issue security patches for apps/OSs long discontinued or superceded by newer versions.. Pretty standard practice.

Need I explain the discrepancy between "discontinued" and "abandoned?"
