(Which brings up a possibility I hadn't considered before. The eggs could

be

(a) SJ's weapon (b) scientific specimens or (c) food. Maybe the

facehuggers

or the eggshells are a delicacy for the spacejockeys -- like caviar.<g>)

Interesting points. I'd never considered they might be food. However, these are a little more dangerous than caviar, which might give you a bit of a bad stomach at worst - it won't have an alien burst out of your chest! Also I suspect the acid blood wouldn't be too tasty. Unless of course the SJ race are immune to it just as the Aliens themselves are.

Although when you like at the size of an SJ... if Ripley, with her enhanced strength in AR has the strength to rip a face hugger off her head, surely a stonking great SJ could manage it? Unless of course it comes from a low gravity planet and is therefore quite weedy for its size, or it really is immobile in that big armchair thing.

Clearly this orderly layout,

Maybe the queen was a neat freak :-)

the very laser-like laser (which represents technology that doesn't fit with anything else of the Alien species),

must

be good evidence that the eggs were intentionally put into the hold by members of the SJ race, and that therefore they were being transported?

Animal Hour
Or there used to be food in the hold and the queen ate the food, then laid

eggs

where the food used to be.

Maybe the mist and the laser were part of some kind of system for

preserving

food. And by coincidence it helped preserve the alien eggs.
