Glen A. RITCHIEIt's due to the alien and the pilot being designed by the same guy :-)
In "Alien", the creature that came forth from the egg (and thenceforth, Kane) on the Space Jockey's derelict was biomechanical in appearance.
Was this due to genetic engineering on the Space Jockey's home planet, or
due to being placed on the floor of the spacecraft for so long (hence, absorbing and imprinting itself with genetically useful characteristics from the vessel itself)? No offense intended, but I really hate that idea.
