The one thing from the books that I have a hard time visualizing is

the

part in The Hobbit where Bilbo, Gandalf and the Dwarves have to take cover because these giants are throwing boulders around. I've talked with

several

friends who have read the books as well and they said that scene is hard

to

fathom. What do you think would be the hardest scene from the books to be adapted visually without it coming off cheesy?

My main problem has always been the Elves. I think that the LOTR movies should have been postponed a few years to allow CGI technology to catch up and do the Elves in CG. Even Tolkien uses shorthand writing to describe the Elves and evoke their particulars rather than describing specifics.
