what is being said is that the gimp is inefficient, slow and clunky, with the alternatives leaving it in the dust.

Meaning you'll produce, what, 10x as many photos of equal or better quality than anyone using Gimp? 100 times? What do you mean by 'leaving it in the dust'?

Does it bother you that someone else might use Gimp and be happy with it?
