Had the problem with 2 LaCie and one Toshiba. Not cheap-no-name...

Can't say anything about Toshiba, but LaCie are known to fail more than they work. Can't say I've seen them as pricey, but if they are, it's would be because they are stylish, not because they are higher quality.

yep. la cie is all about looks. when you make a drive enclosure that looks like lego blocks or has a small percentage of real gold in them, you aren't targeting buyers who care about quality.
