I wouldn't pay more than $250, tax included. In fact, the one my wife owns was a prize from ordering laser printer ink.
I see sub 10k page claims for a "workgroup" $1.2k color laserjet (black) (oddly 11k pages claimed for the 3 color cartridges). and those cartridges are nearly $200
not sure how you can make money on powder giving away ipads with cartridges
