Spaking of Donald Duck, a while ago someone told me that Americans like Mickey Mouse but never really cared for Donald; that it is Europeans who love Donald. I can't help wondering why this would be so. Why would Americans love the well-meaning and well-adjusted but ineffectual Mickey, who speaks in a falsetto vocie and never says anything other than exhorations like: "Pluuuto! Stop it!" or "You stupid mutt!" The Europeans show their superior judgment by rooting for the temperamental but dynamic duck, who engages with his surroundings in a much more committed and significant way.Mickey is visually more elegant and striking, like a Coca-Cola bottle, Marilyn Monroe multiplied or the silhouette of Batman. An icon for people who read images rather than text.

But hey, there will be a new fresh translation soon! I haven't heard about it for quite a while now.
I know a little about how Erik Andersson (the new translator) goes about hos task. I believe the result will be excellent.
