Wife updated to iOS7 on her iPhone 5. Can't read the fonts without glasses, especially when texting (WTF were they thinking, white thin text on a light green background-W T F-and making the fonts bold doesn't change anything), fonts too thin, cartoon colors too distracting. Phone slower than before and eats up the battery faster.

iOS7 works fine on the new 5s with the faster processor. You need to upgrade to the 5s _today_. It will be the best thing for your marriage.

Remember, iOS7 has true multi-tasking. If you're trying to do multi-tasking on an older device with a slower processor it will be slower than in the past when you were just doing task-switching. You almost certainly are doing multi-tasking whether you realize that it's occurring or not.

Android has had true multi-tasking for years and if you try to run multiple high-powered apps at the same time, on an older device with a slower CPU, the device really bogs down. In fact, the probable reason that Apple didn't do multi-tasking on earlier versions of iOS is because it negatively affects the user experience. What might have been nice on iOS7 would have been for the OS to detect the device it's running on and automatically do task-switching rather than multi-tasking.

Some people don't care for iOS7, and it does take some getting used to. iOS7 has the look and feel of Windows 8. And as this writer (who likes iOS7 and Windows 8) points out, this type of GUI is likely going to be used on a future Mac OS once Macs have touch screens <http://www.zdnet.com/ios-7-first-impressions-of-the-metro-ized-ios-7000020920/>.
