JustiniLoks are not legacy devices. iLok 2 came out last year and hundreds of application developers use it for copy protection. www.ilok.com. "It doesn't work on a newer machine"??????

If I write it, I get to decide what "properly" means.
The only decision you get is whether or not to buy it
under the terms IAlan BakerJustin
offer.
When you write/offer/act like a douchebag, expect to be treated as such. Nobody in the industry uses hardware dongles anymore.
That may be true--although from the links and information posted by Steve, I don't think you've got your facts right...
I know all I need to about the situation. Avid is using a legacy "anti piracy" technique. It doesn't work on a newer machine. Customer paid money and now can't use the product.
What would you do if you bought a car and one day your key wouldn't start it? That's exactly what's happening here. You are trying to make it into a licensing issue.I wish Avid ProTools 10 HD Native (what I have) was $600. Try about 5 or 6 THOUSAND dollars.Alan BakerJustin
...but assuming it is, that would be because people voted with their DOLLARS by not buying software that requires them.
Wrong. Voting is a once and done action. Buying something meant you establish a relationship with the customer. Once they buy your product It is up to you to make them happy - within reason. Avid ProTools 10 lists for $600 off Amazon. For $600 that software should be developed to the point where it can run on anything and anywhere.
