I'm hoping that someone here can help settle an minor argument. I maintain that Frodo is pronounced Froh-doh (with both o's long), and my friend reckons it should be Frod-oh (with the first o short, and the second long). A trivial point perhaps, but is there a right way to pronounce it, and how do we know that it is right?

How is it said in the movie?

How it's said in the movie is of no import. Tolkien pronounced it with both o's long.

And why can't we import Os?? The bigger, the better, IMO.
