the Pilgrim Feathers.Not to mention NOLDOR!! Donald is an obvious Feanorean, if I've ever seen one (I have). It is noteable that both Disney and Tolkien took part in the WWI. It is not too far fetched to speculate that Tolkien might have met a young American ambulance driver somewhere in France, who would told him about the eccentric duck-character he had been pondering. And just perhaps the character of Feanor was inspired by those tales of a relentless duck with a Viking spirit. In fact, Tolkien added an indirect homage, maybe to acknowledge his debt to Disney, in LotR, with the famous cameo appearance of the mysterious Quick Duck in the Moria battle scene...
