(My music software alone requires two dedicated USB copy protection dongles)

What??

Lloyd
Yep, there is still some software that uses them.

And of course, the damned things have always been problematic which is why most software did away with them years ago.

Steve's problems with USB devices could very well be caused by those damned things!

Nope. Why don't you go to Amazon.com, search for "USB 3.0 Hub" and read the reviews. I can guarantee you some of the 1-2 star reviews will be from MacBook Pro Retina owners.

It's mainly the Apple USB Superdrive I can't get to work with any hub I have here, including powered ones. (When it is the sole device connected)

Steve

I never figured out why the Apple USB Superdrive is considered. I've never had an external that was much faster not work just fine, and at generally better prices.
