Actually, from the brief glances I have had of Yosemite, I find that I prefer the look of Mavericks myself. The difference isn't enough to worry me, and I'm sure I will get used to it, but there are certain elements of the pre-Yosemite Finder that I prefer to the Finder in Yosemite. the thing that bothers me the most is the appearance of the "stoplights" at the top of a window.
Having said that, I remember George Graves. IIRC, when Apple first released OSX, he said he hated it, and didn't want to move from the "classic" Mac OS look and feel. A year or so later, he changed his mind and was a great advocate of OSX.This is how change works. Some people overreact but then they get used to it. :)
