they don't provide actual facts, they just say "you're wrong", expecting that is all it takes. laughable.

Whisky-dave
Like you did when I potest proof that snipping on ebay isnt; effective and doesn;t really work but they want you to think it does so you spend more\than you might have if you stopped to think.

you didn't 'potest proof' of anything.

all you did was spew rubbish.

nospam
the only reason is because they don't have anything to refute and can *only* argue about stupid shit.

Whisky-dave
Some just end with digital is better than film and they think that proves they understand the point being made.

digital is better than film.

it has higher resolution, less noise, more accurate colour and wider dynamic range.

something doesn't have to drop to zero to be considered dead. Pretty much so, that;s what doctors and peolpe do to work out whether or not you can revive them of take them to the morgue rather than the hospital, people have had to do this for 1000s of years and not get it wrong too often hopefully.

film sales are a tiny fraction of what they once were.

Whisky-dave
So, floppies are also in t4he same 'boat' as far as 'sails' go ;-)

floppies are dead too.

they're a worthless storage medium because they're slow and the capacity is so pitifully small, computers haven't included a floppy drive in *years* and it's almost impossible to buy them.

kodak filed for bankruptcy. saying film is dead is not wrong.

Whisky-dave
Doesn't make it dead, just less used than it was. The word dead has particualar uses perhaps you need to find a more apt word for film than dead.

it's an expression. only an idiot would take it literally.

nospam
i've said vinyl records cannot beat digital audio and film cannot beat digital photography and people start arguing that some people like vinyl records and some movie producers still use film.

Whisky-dave
So hardly dead then as you said. Analogue is better than digital for almost everything.

nonsense.

you haven't a clue.

Just like smartphones are better cameras than 'cameras' .

not every situation requires an slr. a smartphone fits into your pocket and is always with you.

nospam
one has nothing to do with the other. people can like vinyl and film all they want but it's a mathematical impossibility for vinyl or film to beat their digital counterparts. it's simply not possible.

Whisky-dave
Easily possible all music is recorded using anlogue and then it's chopped upto digital and some bits thrown away

complete utter nonsense. you haven't a fucking clue. nothing is thrown away.

just like they do from RAW to JPEG. ONly an idiot would claim JPEG is better than RAW, or perhaps it's just those that doen;t understand what RAW is that think that way.

this isn't about lossy compression, it's about digital versus analog.

People knew how shit MP3s are compared to an original recording that's why people use ACC and lossless to some it doesn;t matter of course.

there may be shit quality mp3s but that has nothing to do with digital versus analog.

there are also shit analog recordings too.
