Sandmanonce he knew it was lost he could recover it, yuo don;t know you've lost data until it's not there. You have to know you're datas lost before you get it from a backup. Once you have it you have restored it.

since you admit to having a backup, there can't be data loss.
The phone data is no longer available on the phone.
But your data is not lost, right?
Wrong the data is still lost you can get identical data back id indeed it has been backed up.
I.e. his data is not lost.
His data was lost.
No, he had backup.
Which hopefully actually exists and can be recovered. We've had whole servers go down and no been able to recover from a backup. A backup is useless unbless you know you can get the data back.SandmanWhisky-daveSandmanAlso, the data on the phone *is* available, only not easily so.Whisky-dave
But if you can't get it, it's considered lost, that's what lost means.
But he can get it. Only not easily. So then it's not lost.
Only if the backup actualy contains the data.
It wouldn't be a backup if it didn't.
they can't be under your nose unless your nose is down the back of the sofa. The word lost is from teh individuals perception that's what lost means.SandmanAh, so if you drop your keys and they fall under the sofa, and you have a back problem, the keys are lost, ey?Whisky-dave
yes
That's idiotic. Just because you can't reach them under the sofa, that doesn't mean they're lost. They're still right there under your nose.
Yes.Whisky-daveSandman
cheers that, proves data can be lost otherwise such aservice wouldn't exist.
So, the existence of a company that prides themselves in being able to recover data from pretty much any data media known to mankind is proof that data can be lost?
If someone can..... yes some people can get some data back.Whisky-daveSandman
There is NO guarentee they can get you're data back is there.
If someone can, these guys can. And in the case of Peter, whose only problem was a supposed "internal switch", they most definitely could have.
