I gave examples of where cloud outages and other problems _have_ resulted in the loss of data _from_the_cloud_storage_.
The chance that data will be lost from the cloud is why people should not rely solely on the cloud for storage or even backup.nobody said they should, and the cloud isn't just for storage or backup.
I agree that sensible people will have their data backed up externally to the cloud but there are plenty of people with smartphones and the like who think their data (mainly images) is safely backed up to the cloud and who have no other backup copy of much of it.it's on their phone.
