what you've shown above is that it's vital to have backups.
And not rely on just one backup, such as the cloud.

*any* system can crash, whether it's the cloud or a local hard drive. the question is when, not if.
in the event something fails, you replace the failed component or wait for the cloud service to do it and restore from a backup if needed.
Some systems are designed to have a five second crash recovery. Restoration of a significant amount of data from the cloud would take a lot longer than fives seconds. Waiting for the cloud could cost literally millions of dollars. Think about the financial services industry.
