Tony CooperWhat has concerned me is the Jonas 'ought' to have been knowledgable about many things at first sight gives the impression of being knowledgable. However for the sake of winning an argument, or to better enable him to hunt down a few people in disfavour, he will blandly twist and turn and deliberately make statements of enormous disfact. Unfortunately it is not in my nature to leave these statements unchallenged.

You are flanneling, as usual. Anyone who has read Usenet for more than a few days will know that "the use of single emphatic quotation marks is standard, as are *asterisks* and _underlining_," although they may not immediately realise that "underlining is less common in recent years."
I thought you were going to stop feeding the troll. WTF is the importance of who "wins."
I'm not interested in winning. I'm interested in the truth of the matter.
Actually all three of you are interested in "winning" regardless of this so called search for truth.
There's ample evidence that no one with any smarts would think they could ever "win" with Popinjay if winning is when the loser admits defeat. His ego won't allow him to admit being wrong or uninformed.
He struts and postures and concocts arguments that make the Little Piggy's straw house look like a fortress in comparison.--
He was good for some laughs, though. It was amusing to see him try so hard, and so unsuccessfully, to defend his gaffes.
There's an old Victorian term that describes a person who acts in the way he does: Podsnappery, a term meaning a person with a “wilful determination to ignore the objectionable or inconvenient, at the same time assuming airs of superior virtue and noble resignation.” Dickens frequently used this now almost forgotten term.
