PeterNyou must be kidding.
Yesterday I went to hear Stephen Johnson speak.
<http://www.sjphoto.com/>
Previously, I took a one week workshopwith him, covering landscape shooting and Photoshop.
He repeated his conviction that LR has no real advantage over Bridge, except for its library function.
He also repeated that ACR should only be used for rough adjustments, and the fine tuning should be done in PS, because you have more control.bullshit. a lot can be done with camera raw, with just as much control in camera raw than in photoshop, if not more so, because it's done earlier in the workflow.
As for plugins, he never uses them because he feels that you get more control with PS. The only exception is using Perfect Resize.that makes no sense whatsoever. plug-ins are part of photoshop.
He never uses cloning, but: adjusts color, toning and crops freely. IOW nothing is removed from the image that was there when he shot it, and nothing is put into the image that wasn't there. He does adjust with curves and color tones. Oh! yes. He shoots with a 4x5 with a Better Light scanning back, and a Hassey.so what. just because he works that way doesn't mean others must do so.
Look at his work and judge for yourself.there are some nice photos there but they are all so damned tiny it's hard to tell just how good they really are and nothing that is particularly exceptional either.
