SandmanI'm not reopening this argument other than to say that I did all those things at great length but you rejected anything which didn't fit your idea of what was correct.
In article <oi5kl9him8a21me1ecvqug23j8tcktdt2k@4ax.com>, Eric Stevens wrote:SandmanEric StevensSandmanIncorrect. As I've said many times, I call people liars when they continue making a claim that has been proven to be wrong.Eric Stevens
There are times when you have called people liars without any preliminary explanation.
No, there are no such tims.
No?
No.SandmanEric StevensEric StevensSandman
Even when you rely on what you call proof, it only has to be proven to _your_ satisfaction for you to call them a liar.
Of course, who's satisfaction should it have been proven to?
It should satisfy everyone in the argument.
The "argument" consisted of you, who made an incorrect statement, and me who corrected it. There was no one else.
Upon correcting you, and you continuing to make the incorrect statement, you were asked to support your position, which you pretty much never do.
Point in case: You once made this claim:
Eric Stevens 11/28/2013 <s14d99tpigvh1jt1g2idvq17u7j8h16t9q@4ax.com>
"The problem in this case is that neither of you properly understand the meaning of 'protocol'."
That is an explicit claim from you about whether or not I understand a word. You were asked to provide support for this claim, which would be in the form of me 1. Using the word incorrectly, and 2. The correct usage of the word in that instance.
That is the only way to support that claim.
To this day, you have failed to support that claim while at the same time refused to retract it. You tried your normal diversion with things like:For examples of 2. above and you rejected them.
Eric Stevens 12/08/2013 <3qo7a9lmda3fn6mt5dqquo89aifqqkml16@4ax.com>
"I gave you four written examples of the real-world use of the word 'protocol' and you ignored them."
But that's side-stepping the claim, merely pointing to supposed correct usage of the word does not in any way, shape or form, support your claim that *I* don't understand it.
This is why you are called a liar.See my long post with quotes.SandmanEric StevensEric StevensSandman
This is a half-way credible explanation you have concocted to try and get yourself off the hook.
What hook? You'd have a point if I somehow was trying to gloss over the fact that I made a mistake, but I'm not. I have been very open and direct about the fact that I made a mistake. You and your troll buddy Andreas is trying to retcon that into me thinking that Best Buy is a nationally known camera store, which I never at any point in my entire life thought.
What you are not being open about is how long it took you to realise you made a mistake.
Not at all - what I am *denying* is that YOU knew I was making a mistake, told me about it, and I ignored it.
I am fully aware that I made the mistake many times. And that's five times over the course of three days. On the 19th I realized I had made a mistake, admitted to it openly and freely without hesitation.A number of us suspected you were mixing things up but none of us could actually know what you really intended.SandmanEveryone thought I was in reference to B&H since well, that's what I was typing.Eric Stevens
Well, that's what you were saying.
Exactly my point. No one thought I mistyped or made a mistake. No one thought "wait, maybe he's mixing things up?", and certainly no one said anyting to make me aware of me maybe having them mixed up.
You were told.SandmanNo one was questioning my usage and not until I posted the address to a Best Buy Store did Savageduck realize I had had them mixed up the entire time.Eric Stevens
I knew right from the very beginning, and so did others. What we didn't know was what you actually had in mind.
Even if you did, you never ever said anything to me to enlighten me about it. If you knew I was saying B&H when I meant something else and then didn't say that, then that just makes you an asshole, right? Why didn't you just say "Uh, I think you may mean something else than B&H, it only exists in NY, and you're in Florida, right?"
But you didn't, did you?
And you did it over and over again.SandmanEric StevensIn this case, it was number 2 - I knew I was talking about Best Buy the entire time, and several clues in what I wrote attested to this (it being near The Loop for instance).
You might have known it was near the loop but the evidence is that you thought it was B&H.
No, I knew it was Best Buy the entire time. I specifically drove there to visit Best Buy, my mistake was that when I wanted to reference Best Buy in this group, I mistakenly wrote B&H. That's my only mistake.
That's suggests you have done little online shopping until recently.SandmanEric StevensEric StevensSandman
I am surprised that you did not know of them prior to this discussion.
How so? They're an American store, are they not?
They are an international store with a world-wide presence via the Internet.
So are many stores, certainly millions of stores. I knew of very few of them. When it comes to buying photographic gear on the internet, I rely on Swedish online stores, like www.scandinavianphoto.se, www.cyberphoto.se or www.kaffebrus.comSandmanI can't visit them here and have no relation to them whatsoever. Why would it surprise you that someone from Sweden didn't know about B&H?Eric Stevens
If you have had any significant interest in photography and an Internet connection you should have known for some time.
That's a pretty stupid claim to make. I have significant interest in photography, but no interest in camera stores in the states, even if they have an online store.
Count them. --SandmanEric StevensEric StevensSandman
I (and I think at least one other) gave you several opportunities to realise you had made an error. You never took them.
No you did not. Stop repeating this incorrect claim.
See my recent post on this subject. You had (possibly) half a dozen warnings.
Incorrect.
