I poked around the Topaz site and couldn't find a mention either way. They refer to it as a "plugin" without saying "PS plugin" or Plugin for PS".

Alien Skin also avoids saying "Photoshop Plugin", but they do say it is "compatible" with CS6 CC.

there is no requirement to call it anything specific and the sdk refers to it both ways.

the terms are interchangeable. there is no difference.

except to you.

Wiki articles are written by individuals. You could submit a Wiki article (shudder!). A headline used in a Wiki article is hardly a gold standard of use. Note, though, that the body copy uses "Photoshop-compatible plugins". They work *with* Photoshop.

there are many different types of plug-ins.

a photoshop plug-in is obviously a plug-in that is compatible with photoshop. duh. you are trying to make a distinction where none exists.

it's possible that a photoshop plug-in can be used in apps other than photoshop. for instance, the gimp claims to support a small subset of photoshop plug-ins. some plug-in authors test with other apps, but most don't bother since so few users care.

it's also possible to write a host app to support photoshop plug-ins (which the gimp tries to do), but you won't get support from adobe for that.

So you reached out to the UK to find a blog - or "bloq" as they spell it - that uses the term "Photoshop Plugins" on their site that collects cookies and sells ad space.

i googled 'photoshop plugin' and picked two of the many hits. i don't give a shit where the url originates.

i'm telling you, as someone who has written photoshop plug-ins, making a distinction between 'photoshop plug-in' and 'plug-in for photoshop' is utterly ridiculous and shows just how much of an idiot you really are.
