no they do not, nor did film users need to know how to process their own film.

many people know how to use a computer and some did their own darkroom work, but it is not a requirement to use a camera.

But knowing what can be done in the dark room is an essential part of the skills of a top photographer.

So there are no young top photographers? Only oldies know what can be done in the dark room.

According to your logic, when dark rooms fade into nostalgic memory even more, we will no longer have any more top photographers.

Another example of a trollish, and deliberate twist. I gues you don't understand that darkrooms (one word, btw,) have been replaced with digital darkrooms. Do try to realize that technology advances.

I wonder if this is what Eric meant. "digital darkrooms" really has no real relation to actual dark rooms. You don't develop film in "digital dark rooms" and the possibilities in post processing far surpasses what could be done in an old darkroom.

What is a trollish behaviour is to jump in to a thread and make claims about what another person must have meant. Why didn't you just jump in and say what you thought Eric meant? Why all high and mighty and condescending, with the risk of being proven incorrect (i.e. Eric meaning actual darkrooms)?
