why people want to remain in the past, i do not know.

sid
Because he likes to? Because he finds it works for him? Why are either of those things so offensive to you?

nospam
who said it's offensive? that's something you made up.

sid
Well you've certainly been frothing at the mouth in a manner which suggested to me you that you are quite offended by the thought of anyone not running an adobe product on osx.

then you aren't paying attention, and if anyone is frothing, it would be you.

nospam
as has been explained by myself and others, someone using linux has fewer choices, which puts them at a significant disadvantage.

sid
As explained by myself and others, he has different choices, choices none the less, and he is not put at a significant dissadvantage for that. He does not want to use the same shit you are continually peddling here like some backstreet drug dealer, he has made his choices based on things other than wanting to have the most expensise accessories in a vain effort to make himself seem better.

he made his choices without looking at any of the other options.

where did price come into this anyway? computers aren't free.

nospam
he has to come up with these crazy solutions because it's the only way.

sid
That statement alone shows you know nothing about running a linux desktop, everything you say about it is nothing but hot air.

nospam
i know plenty about running a linux desktop. it's not worth the hassles.

sid
Bullshit

then why don't very many people use linux if it's so simple, hassle-free and just as capable?

maybe because it isn't.

Savageduck
Personally I prefer to be able to concentrate on working on my photography, however good or bad it might be. How much improvement it might need, and know that I can do reasonably advanced editing and adjustment post processing using LR5 + PS running on OSX. I certainly don't have a "geek flag" to fly.

sid
So why are you so keen to berate others when they want to do the same thing but with different choices in os to you?

nospam
they can't do the same thing. that's the whole point.

sid
Of course they can,

nospam
no they definitely can't.

sid
Yes, they definitely can.

nope.

nospam
*many* very capable apps are not available to linux users.

sid
And *many* very capable apps are available to linux users.

not that many, and all of them can run on os x natively, along with all of the commercial options that are far more capable.

the gimp is about where photoshop was ten years ago and even lacks some features photoshop had 20 years ago.

nospam
that means they can't do the same things.

sid
That means they can do they same things but with different software

not always, and usually with a lot more effort.

Floyd and I have both shown images here that have been produced using the software you are so scathing about, Unlike yourself who has never shown that you even use a camera let alone all the software products.

nospam
you haven't said how much work it took.

sid
No more work that it would take you with your choice of software.

actually quite a bit more work since key features are missing, such as non-destructive editing, adjustment layers, smart filters, smart objects, smart collections and direct uploading to hosting services.

nospam
it makes the post processing far more productive and less of a hassle.

sid
It isn't a hassle,

nospam
of course it is.

sid
How can you possibly know how much of a hassle it is? That's just more of your hot air.

because i've actually tried all of the options, unlike some people here.
